COAT 2023

This week, our colleagues Armin and Martin are at the first COAT workshop in Durham, which is dedicated to Communications and Observations through Atmospheric Turbulence. The goal of this workshop is to bring together people from the astronomic AO community with people working on upcoming applications of atmospheric AO, such as satellite communications, space situational awareness, or space debris tracking and mitigation via momentum transfer from ground-based lasers. The workshop fills a serious gap with interest in these topics having steadily grown over the last years, but AO conferences such as AO4ELT mainly focused on the astronomy use case.

We are looking forward to three days of stimulating talks and discussions, hoping this workshop will turn into a recurring series.
